Launch Definition as defined by the Launch Definition CoP includes those product management methods concerned with effectively defining a coordinated product launch.


This set of launch definition methods is divided into three main categories.

1. Those Launch Definition methods classified as "Conceptualization" are methods supporting launch activities that are used to conceive new launch plans.
2. Those Launch Definition methods classified as "Refinement" are methods supporting launch activities that used to refine the launch plan.
3. Those Launch Definition methods classified as "Analysis" are methods supporting launch activities that are used to gain insight into new launch plans through the analysis of data and launch plans.
   

This community is part of a system of communities, together these communities act as a system-of-systems designed to be the innovation value chain for social innovation.

The mission of these communities is to: 

• Improve the practices within their focus area
• Help participants submit documented processes to the IPM Alliance for APM certification
• Mentor and provide role models to the community's participants
• Collect and distribute shared resources and information
• Apply methods towards social innovation\
