For today though, I wanted to share my latest revelation. Customer retention. Few years back I was in search of a RSS reader for my blogs... randomly I found a great tool (SharpReader) that met my needs (subscribe to RSS feeds and free). For years I used this thing and could not possibly imagine using a web-based tool because it was online. I had grown to really love the offline capabilities of SharpReader, which wasn't even a feature I was searching for. So I continued to use it. All the while watching people switch to Google Reader, watching it get offline capabilities. Problem was SharpReader never evolved, never changed. It got stale. So, one day I export from SharpReader and import into Google Reader and install Google Gears and bingo. Online and offline. My SharpReader days are over. My point is that users will find something better if you ignore them. Even if you are the market leader, there is something better. For every feature in every release you should be able to answer (in 5 words or less) the impact of this feature to the market.
